Research - Analysing User Experience

Too Good To Go

"Join Millions of food waste warriors by downloading Too Good To Go - the world’s #1 app for fighting food waste."

"Enjoy delicious takeaway food from local restaurants, cafes bakeries & other stores from as little as £2."

"Our mission is to place the lost value back onto food as something that should be eaten and not thrown away. Through the TGTG app we’re raising awareness of food waste by making surplus food available for collection before a store closes its breakfast, lunch or dinner service."

Such wasted potential
This app has the potential to be amazing, but right now it's of little use to me.. You can't filter by vegetarian options, and if you search an area and click on a restaurant, then come back to the search menu, it clears your search results and tells you to enable GPS. You have to try a few times to cancel, as it won't even cancel the previous search (words) straight away, and then search again.

Maybe I'll download again in the future once some substantial changes have been made, but for now it's not for me..

Update: After receiving a reply stating that it is possible to filter by vegan options, I tried again and even contacted customer services, only to be told that the reply was sent by someone in the Denmark team and doesn't apply to the UK version. 🤦🏽‍♀️ So no, we can't filter by began/vegetarian options.
great
used this app a bunch of times in Camden and Brick Lane- it has introduced me to a lot of new places that I would have never heard of otherwise. Love the concept too cuz its good for the environment and i save money too!
‘Too Good To Go’ is an app that also exists with that intention of fighting food waste.

From reading comments users left in response to this app, aspects where the app failed to please some people were taken into consideration in order for these drawbacks to not be present in ‘BonAppetite’. A major issues was the app not having a vegetarian or vegan fil-ter, as it prevented people with these food preferences using it. This was important to take into account as ‘BonAppetiete targets students and from research, it was found that the number of vegans in the UK has risen by 350 percent over the past ten years, with 42 per-cent aged between 15 and 34.

Through analysing each screen “Too Good To Go’ was made up of, important features were noted that could be transferred to the design of ‘BonAppettite:

- A consistent colour scheme was achieved through having the top bar of the app pre-sent throughout. This top bar also allowed headers for each screen e.g. Maps.

- Having a loading transition between pages was important as it informs the user to stay on the screen and not tap off.

    - The layout of the home screen fitted well with the functionality of the app, display-ing food closest with photography, availability and the store name. The home screen also included a search bar which was an important feature to transfer into ‘BonAp-petite’.

This app was based on stores giving away food rather than individuals. Therefore, the user only would look to buy food rather than give any away themselves. When developing ‘Bon-Appetite’ considering both sides of the exchange would have to be designed and work effi-ciently together.
