Layout Ideas - Speaking from Experience

Starting this course can be over-whelming, with this in mind the personality of our book aims to be friendly, laid-back and easy to read. Therefore, by condensing information and having a minimalistic design, it helps achieve this aim.

Layout

An initial idea was to make it a fold out document
with one side displaying needs and the other wants. This idea would mean printing would be less costly and screen-printing more simple. It also would mean the document could be unfolded fully and present a poster that students could decorate their room with. However, with both collage, illustration and text, using this layout would mean the content would be very compact and might appear too busy and over-whelming.

Using a small book layout offers more space and allows the reader to turn over from needs to wants, making comparisons between the two easier.

In developing a design, thinking about how the text could interact with the images to bring it together as a booklet was consistered. With an aim to display the content in such a way it engages new comers was important, design decsions were made based on trying to present the course as fun and rewarding
