OBLIGATION RESEARCH - ROYAL MARINES

ROYAL MARINES ADVERT

As part of our research, we looked at examples of how adverts for the army and royal navy, use a similar idea of merging gaming and reality in order to gauge the attention of gamers, and encourage to use their physical skills in the real world. This advert is slightly controversial because people (particularly parents) feel as though the army are manipulating young people and glamourising the army to appear like the fun, action-based video games that the target audience are into. Without highlighting the serious dangers that these positions might involve.  

We looked into this, and the cinematography behind the advert which really associates it with a video game aesthetic and how this is used to gauge the attention of players at home.
